DOGS at play
One of the joys of having English Shepherds as our working dogs is playing with them too. English Shepherds love to be with their people, and doing things together makes them happy. Our dogs go on hikes and walks with us, play tug and fetch, and just hang out, being helpful any way they can.
Mace cooling off in the creek on a hot summer day. Is this what they mean about "a dog's life"? This is about as far into the water he ever goes. He's not a real fan of getting wet.
Mace out on a walk in our canyon.
Mace also likes to play fetch. Part of HIS game is bringing it back and putting it down just a few feet out of reach. If I stand still and tell him "I can't reach it" - he will pick it up and toss it a little closer.
Ember and Loki playing "bitey face". This is a big favorite here!
Ember "smiling" at me. I was scratching her belly, and she was in ecstasy!
This is Mags' favorite rock perch. When we walk this trail in our canyon, she will always stop here to look out over the canyon and listen for squirrels, or see if there are any deer moving.
Mags pouncing on a mouse she has heard under the snow.
Fae is also a big water dog. Here she is playing in the Selway River on one of our hikes.
Fae "helping" me knock the dirt out of sections of sod to expand my flower bed. She also helps in the vegetable garden, giving weeds I pull an extra shake as if to say "Take THAT!"
All the dogs participating in an impromptu obedience lesson. When the treats appear, they ALL want to have lessons. Funny dogs!
